What happens when two loan documents disagree?

Give the software conflicting information and inspect what it sends to the processor for a decision.

Two documents can be readable and still disagree. When you evaluate an AI processor, supply that disagreement deliberately. Watch whether the product leaves a clear question for your processor or treats one value as settled without support.

This test goes beyond checking whether the requested document arrived. It asks whether the next person can see what conflicts, understand what remains unknown and resolve it under the requirements for that file.

Choose a conflict with an unresolved cause

Use sample information and specify the requirement being tested. Present documents with a difference that could have more than one explanation. Avoid telling the presenter the answer in advance; the point is to observe how the software handles uncertainty.

Ask what source the system uses for each value it reports. Your processor should be able to open that source and check the relevant information. A displayed answer that omits its origin leaves the reviewer repeating the comparison manually.

Illustrative worked example: conflicting employer information

Use this fictional scenario in a demonstration.

The sample application lists an employer as Northfield Services. A returned pay stub lists Northfield Operations. Both names are readable. The test materials provide no explanation linking the names and no approved instruction for choosing one.

Ask the vendor to process the response. Then inspect the resulting question and file record. A useful handoff would identify the difference, point to both documents and state what the processor needs to confirm. “Employer information differs between the application and pay stub” gives the reviewer a specific issue to examine.

An answer that assumes the names refer to the same employer goes beyond the supplied evidence. An answer that assumes they represent different employers also settles something the test did not establish. Record either behavior as a result to discuss before assigning this kind of work.

Add missing information to the same test

Provide a replacement sample document that removes the employer difference but crops out the pay period. The first question may be resolved while a new gap remains. Inspect whether the system identifies the missing information and connects its next request to that gap.

This helps you evaluate whether a revised response is checked on its own merits. A replacement document should not inherit acceptance simply because it arrived after a correction request.

Inspect the action that stopped

Find out which part of the task remains unfinished. Check the condition record and outstanding request. Ask the vendor to show how your processor receives the issue and what further work, if any, continues on the file.

Do not assume that stopping one uncertain action means every request should stop. Define the scope you expect for this test and inspect the observed behavior. Record any manual pause or cleanup your team needs to perform.

Resolve the question and review the continuation

Have the processor provide a supported next instruction within the sample scenario. Observe how the request continues and inspect the record afterward. The history should let a teammate connect the original conflict, the processor’s instruction and the eventual result.

Use the AI tools evaluation guide for the rest of your test plan. Book a walkthrough to follow an unresolved question into the processor’s review.
