AI tools for lenders: comparison and checklist

Published August 17, 2026. Updated September 9, 2026.

Start with the work piling up on your team. These five products overlap, but their sites describe different jobs. This list groups them by that work; it does not rank them.

Taking this to a processing lead? Read the evaluation checklist or download the worksheet (CSV). It opens in Excel or Google Sheets, with space to record what each vendor demonstrates.

  • Processing the file, from the package through the conditions

    Loandock

Builds and pre-underwrites the package, submits it to the lender, and works every condition that comes back.

  • Broad automation across origination

    Lender Toolkit

Their site offers automation tools, implementation services and pre-built AI products.

  • Document analysis, fraud checks, condition management

    Ocrolus

Their site describes document analysis, income and fraud products, plus Inspect for conditions.

  • Income analysis, file preparation and eligibility checks

    Prudent AI

Upfront Income calculates income, Index checks submission requirements and stacks documents, and AUS checks eligibility against investor matrices.

  • Guideline checks, condition review, missing-document requests

    Addy AI

Their site describes guideline checks, condition and AUS review, and missing-document requests.

Start with the bottleneck

Files that stall before underwriting point at document readiness and eligibility analysis. Files that stall after conditions arrive point at requests, follow-up and the updates made in your LOS.

Loandock is an AI loan processor. Clara builds and pre-underwrites the file, submits it, and works the conditions that come back. Your underwriter clears them.

Use this checklist in the demo

Ask each vendor to use a sample file and follow the same work. Mark each item shown, partial or not shown, and record the screen or timestamp that supports it. Leave a place for questions your processing lead needs answered before a trial.

Fit with your work

Follow a sample file through the part of processing you want help with. Identify the LOS and setup used in the demonstration.

Record: Where the work starts and ends, who uses it, what it reads and updates in the LOS, required setup, and which tasks your team still completes.

A specific document request

Show the request for a document with a required person, period and page count.

Record: What the recipient receives and where your team can see the outstanding request.

The wrong document

Return a document for the wrong period, then a corrected copy.

Record: Whether the mismatch is caught, what the correction request says, and who sends it.

The update in your LOS

Open the condition after the correct document is accepted.

Record: The filed document, the status, the activity record, and any copying left for your team.

A judgment call

Show an item the software cannot resolve on its own.

Record: Who receives it, what evidence and reason they get, and how the next action is recorded.

Work already done by your team

Have a processor update an item before the software takes its next action.

Record: How it handles the changed file and avoids a stale request or duplicate filing.

Access and vendor review

Walk through access approval, revocation and the security documents available for review.

Record: Access limits, data handling, retention terms and the documents your security team still needs.

Evidence and cost

Separate a demonstrated capability from a customer result, then explain the price and terms.

Record: Result scope, measured versus estimated time, remaining staff work, and the assumptions behind cost per file.

A product description tells you what to ask about. Mark a step shown only after you see it. A demo on a sample file also leaves questions about performance in your own operation; write down what a limited trial would need to establish.

Download the evaluation worksheet (CSV). Keep a copy for each vendor and compare the work still left for your team.

Start with Loandock's evidence

Read the redacted live-file activity log to follow a wrong-pay-period response through correction and filing. The log describes that file. Use the product recording to see the software, then bring the open questions to a walkthrough.

Read what an AI loan processor is and the line between AI processing and AI underwriting. Head-to-head reads on Lender Toolkit, Ocrolus and the rest sit in the comparison index.

Company sites checked September 6, 2026: Lender Toolkit, Ocrolus, Prudent AI and Addy. Descriptions come from public product information. We did not test the products.

Watch Clara request and check documents, then file them in the LOS. The walkthrough takes 30 minutes, with time for questions.
