Four processors to two: what changes with an AI processor

Published September 7, 2026.

How many processors a shop needs depends on its volume and its loan mix, so no one can hand you the number from the outside. What Loandock changes is the work: Clara builds the package, pre-underwrites the file, submits it to the lender and works every condition that comes back, and the processors you keep spend the day on judgment.

What the processors who stay keep doing

The judgment stays with them. Ambiguous income, conflicting documents, an unusual debt, a file that does not look like the last hundred: those land on a processor’s list with the documents already gathered, and the processor makes the call.

They stay accountable for the file too. They read the log, they know what was asked and answered, and they talk to the loan officer when a file goes sideways. Your underwriter clears each condition, and lender policy stays authoritative.

What Clara does on every file

Loandock is an AI loan processor. Once the borrower is under contract, Clara takes the document work end to end.

  • Builds the package and works out who owes each item.
  • Reads every document that comes back and returns the wrong ones with the reason.
  • Pre-underwrites before submission, so fewer avoidable conditions come back.
  • Submits to the lender and records what was sent.
  • Works each condition from the request through resubmission.
  • Keeps the LOS current and puts anything that needs judgment on your processor’s list.

Why the number depends on your volume and mix

Nobody can tell you your ratio from the outside, and we will not promise you a headcount. Two processors working with Clara is a different job than four working without her, and whether that holds in your shop depends on your monthly volume, how many conditions your files carry, and how many borrowers are self-employed.

The honest way to find your number is to run it. Put Clara on a set of live files, watch how much of the day comes back to your processors, and decide after you have seen it.

What the day looks like on the other side

The requesting, reading, returning and chasing stop being a queue somebody works through. Clara works every available action across every active file at once, nights and weekends included, so nothing waits for a desk to be occupied.

On one file carrying 120+ conditions and flags, the document chasing would have taken 60 to 70 hours by hand. Loandock did it in 8 to 10 hours, and the file was worked start to finish in 7 days against the roughly 25 days that file would normally take.

How to start

Pick the files, not the headcount. You choose which live files Clara starts on, your admin issues the access and can revoke it, and you pay by the file.

The walkthrough runs 30 minutes on a demo file, so you can see the work before any of your borrowers are involved.

Questions owners ask

Does Loandock promise we can run on two processors?

No. The right number depends on your volume, your loan mix and how many conditions your files carry. What we will tell you is which work comes off the desk, and you read your own files after that.

What happens to a file Clara is not sure about?

It stops and goes to your processor with the documents already gathered and the reason it stopped. Guessing on a mortgage file is how a shop gets burned, so uncertainty goes to a person.

Who clears each condition?

Your underwriter. Clara works the condition from the request through resubmission and puts the documents back for review, and the authorized lender person makes the clearance decision.

Can we start on one loan officer's files?

Yes. You choose the files Clara starts on, and access is issued by your admin and can be revoked. Most teams start with a handful of live files.

Do our processors have to learn a new system?

Clara works inside the LOS your team already uses, and it stays the system of record. Your processors read the log and work the list Clara sends them.
