What belongs in a lender resubmission?

Match each condition to its supporting documents and identify what remains unresolved before sending the file back.

A resubmission should let the reviewer find the response to each condition without reconstructing your inbox. Prepare it from the current condition list, using the lender’s submission instructions, and make the evidence behind each completed processing action easy to reach.

The package should also show what remains unresolved. A tidy summary that hides an open question can make the next review harder.

Confirm which list you are answering

Start with the current lender condition list and any clarifications received since it was issued. Check whether a revision arrived while your team was gathering documents. If the working list differs from the lender’s current list, reconcile that difference before preparing the resubmission.

Read each response against its own condition. A document that answers one item may be relevant to another, but that relationship still needs review. Do not copy a completion status across similar-looking conditions just because the same attachment appears in both.

Use the lender’s required submission method. An internal index can help your team prepare, but it does not replace lender instructions about where documents or explanations belong.

Build a short evidence map

For each condition, identify the response, the location of the reviewed document and any accompanying explanation. Include the version or date needed to distinguish it from an earlier response. Keep the map concise enough that a covering processor can use it without opening unrelated messages.

Where an item needs clarification, write the question and its owner. Where a document is pending, identify who owes it and the latest request. If your process allows a partial resubmission, clearly describe its scope according to the lender’s instructions. Do not imply that a pending item was included.

Check that the evidence is accessible from the place the reviewer will use. An attachment sitting in a processor’s personal inbox does not become part of the package merely because the summary mentions it.

Illustrative preparation checklist

This checklist is for a sample package, not a lender requirement.

  • Confirm that the condition list and later clarifications are the current working instructions.
  • Open each reviewed response from its filed location and check that the intended version is available.
  • Match the evidence reference to the condition it answers.
  • Identify unresolved questions and assign the next action.
  • Read the submission note beside the actual package and remove any claim that the package cannot support.
  • Record the submission through the lender’s approved process and retain the resulting confirmation if available.

The last step matters because “ready to submit” and “submitted” describe different states. If the transfer fails, the file needs an assigned retry rather than a note that suggests the lender already has it.

Write a note that helps the next review

Describe what you supplied and where it sits. If you replaced a document, explain the replacement briefly. Avoid a long history of every reminder unless that history answers a specific question. The reviewer needs the current response and enough context to assess it.

After submitting, preserve the package reference and the confirmed submission state. When new feedback arrives, relate it to that package so the next correction starts from known evidence.
